    1. 1.The creature doesn't feel regret for killing William because of how mad he is at Victor. The only reason that he puts the necklace thing on Justine, isn't because of feeling guilt, but because he didnt want to get caught by the law and get in trouble. If he got in trouble, he wouldn't be able to get his revenge on Victor, therefore, I don't believe the creature experienced guilt over William's death.
2.I don't think Victor should make another creature, mainly because if he does, they would be a near unstopable pair. It will only cause more problems since there would then be two creatures rather than one and we've already seen the problems that just one caused so two could be catstrophic.

    2. 1. I don't feel that the creature feels any kind of regret for killing William. The creature did this as a way of seeking revenge against Victor, the creature at first has no intentions of killing William but once he learns that he is a Frankenstein, he lets his rage take over. The creature feels no regret because he did this knowingly and on purpose.
      2. No, Victor should not create a companion for the creautre because the creature really doesn't deserve any kind of help from Victor. Creating another creature would cause more problems then there already are and maybe the creature would never be satisfied with this one companion and he may seek more like it. This would cause much more harm than good.

    3. 2. Victor should create the creature a companion so that the creature isn't lonely and sad anymore. Maybe if he creates him one the creature will be happy and not mad at Victor. It might possibly stop the creature from getting more revenge for leaving him.

    4. 1, I think that the creature does not feel regret for killing William. At the time he was angry at anyone with the name Frankenstein, if anyone else with that name would have crossed the creatures path, the creature would likely have killed them to. He was also just tired of being harassed by the people he saw to be normal, if he had not killed someone he would still have the anger from that, and would have likely attacked victor or someone else.

2, Victor should create another creature for a companion because its all that the current creature wants. The creature would be happy and likely leave Victor alone after he created another one. All the creature wanted from victor after spending time watching the cottagers is to have someone to care for like the cottagers had eachother.

    5. 1) I feel as though the crature feels bad or guilty for killing William, but doesnt regret it. I say that he feels guilty because he killed and innocent little child. On the other hand, he doesnt regret doing it because it was one way that he could get back at Victor. I feel as though he would have kept killing Victor's family if Victor hadnt gone and found him. So yes, he feels bad for it.

      2) Victor shouldn't create another creature. I feel that Victor should instead try to kill the creature, and if that doesnt work out in his favor, that Victor should kill himself. The whole book he has been running away from his problems. Why face them now?

    6. Victor should create the creature a companion. The creature is always saying that he is alone and that no one accepts him. He just wants a creature like him so he isn't alone and that they can go live somewhere else in peace (130;chp.17). The creature also made a promise that if Victor made him a companion that he would leave him alone and teach the new creature of good things so that they don't cause problems with humans(130;chp.17).The creature also says that if Victor doesn't make him a companion that he will make sure that he will curse the day that Victor was born and others will be harmed for he will make destruction(131;chp.17). So Victor should make the creature a companion, because his life and friends life depends on it and he owes it to the creature for making him and abandoning him.

  2. Why does the creature indirectly tell De Lacey of what his plan is to be a part of his family

    1. I think that the creature tells him indirectly because he didn't want to come on too strong. I believe the creature knows that it will freak De Lacey out if the creature walks into the house and just starts talking about how he wants to be a part of the family; it's not something that people say to one another. Plus, the creature can't come right out and tell De Lacey that he's been spying on them for the past several months and that's why he wants to be a part of the family; that could possibly give De Lacey a heart attack. I think the creature did a good job of indirectly telling him at first so that he didn't scare De Lacey.

      Delete
    2. The creature didn't have any other choice other than to tell him indirectly because if he had told him directly that he had been spying on the family he would have been rejected by the family. If he was planning on telling them directly he might as well have gone in the house when the whole family was there because he would have been rejected either way because of his looks.

      Delete
    3. He tells him indirectly because if he just came out and told him then De Lacey would be freaked out. It would be the same affect as when the Creature ends up telling him. De Lacey says oh god, what are you.

  3. Was the killing of William needed to attract Victor or would it have been better for the creature to go after Victor directly?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think it was the most effective way of getting Victor's atention. Without killing William and threatening the rest of Victor's family, Victor never would've agreed to listen to the creature's side of the story. The creature needed to do it. Even though it wasn't his original plan, it worked perfectly to his advantage to get Victor's attention.

      Delete
    2. I don't think the killing of William was to attract the attention of Victor, otherwise he would've just gone after Victor instead. Killing William was just a spur of the moment thing out of hatred. As soon as William mentioned the name of Frankenstein it was all over; the creature released all his hatred of Victor on him. I don't think the creature even thought that it would attract Victor, it was just an added bonus.

      Delete
    3. The killing of William was not a cry for attention. The Creature went to Geneva looking for Victor because he knew that Geneva was Victors home town. The Creature didn't plan on killing William at all. He only spoke to William because he believed the child wouldn't know better. He wanted to take William as "his own" and make him a companion. It was after speaking to William that the Creature found out he was related to Victor, and killed him. Therefore, the killing of William was not meant to attract William.

      Delete
    4. The killing of William wasn't a way to attract Victor, it was a murder of complete rage, in the moment. The creature did this in a revengeful way, not an attention seeking way. If the creature would have gone after Victor directly, Victor would still have rejected him. I do think that the creature should have never killed William and that he should have confronted Victor because it is Victor that he hates, not William.

      Delete
    5. The creature should have gone after Victor directly and forced Victor to listen to his story. the creature didn't mean to kill William at first, because he just wanted to kidnap him and have him as a friend. When the William said Frankenstein that got the creature's attention and that's why he killed the boy. So the creature didn't want to get Victor's attention, but he should have immediately tried finding Victor.

  4. 1.Why does the blind man (De Lacey) do nothing when Felix attacks the creature, even though the creature specifically asks for protection? How do you think he reacts to what he hears when Felix beats the creature?

2.Do you think after hearing the creature's story Victor will be willing to give the creature a companion?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 1. I think the blind man doesn't do anything about the creature being attacked because he can't do anything. He can't see what's going on, so he trusts that his son is doing what's right. The creature also probably scared De Lacey when he started hugging his knees and begging for help since De Lacey doesn't know why he needs help. I think that De Lacey is in shock when he hears Felix beating the creature. De Lacey has a lot of control over his children so if he had told Felix to stop I'm sure Felix would've listen, but I think that De Lacey was just in too much shock.

      2. I believe the creature had a decent chance at getting Victor create him a companion before he told about killing William. Before the part about William most people would have felt awful for the creature and what he's gone through, but Victor has a touchy spot when it comes to the murder of William so I don't think that Victor will create him a companion. I also don't think that he will be able to create someone else that is just as hideous and monstrous as the creature. Victor hated what he had created, so I don't think he will be able to do it again.

      Delete
    2. 1. De Lacey was to shocked to speak or do anything. He had just been told this story by a stranger he had never meet before, and still needed to come to terms with it. De Lacey was probably really confused as well. What would you do if a stranger came into your home and seemed like a nice guy, but then when your family comes in they scream and beat him? That situation is just to much for De Lacey to handle so he didn't try and stop Felix. What do you think De Lacey was thinking when Felix started beating the Creature? Could he even possibly think it was because he looked like a monster?

      2. Victor will not make the Creature a companion. Victor went through much pain and agony trying to create the first Creature. Victor will not put himself through that again because of the physical and mental toll that it placed on himself. Victor also believes that the Creature is horrifying and the devil, so he will not make the mistake of creating another.

      Delete
    3. 1. De Lacey physically can't do anything to stop Felix and he doesn't really know the creature and is too overcome by surprise to do anything. De Lacey doesn't know what to feel when a strange man comes into his home seeking his protection and acceptance. De Lacey is probably completely shocked. De Lacey may also feel a bit relieved that his son protected him but with that he may also feel guilt for the creature because he did not deserve to be beaten.
      2. No, I don't think that Victor will ever be able to do anything to help please the creature. Victor is now aware of why he killed William and he could never accept somebody that could do something that grotesque. Victor may feel a little guilt but not enough to give the creature a companion.

      Delete
    4. 1) I believe that De Lacey doesnt do anything to help the crature because he is so scared. If a man had just told me that he had been watching my family and wanted to become part of it, I wouldnt know what to say or do either.

      2) No, I believe it would be stupid of Victor to crate another creature. If he did that then the creature would want a kid creature. Its like if you give a mouse a cookie situation. He will not, or atleast should not create another creature.

  5. Why does the creature save the girl that fell into the water even though he knew he'd still be hated afterward, plus this was after he had decided all humans were his enemies?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The creature saves the little girl because he has a heart. Before, and even after, the creature killed William he was someone with a huge heart and a lot of compassion; that doesn't just go away after you've deceided that all humans are your enemies. I also think that he has more hatred towards men because his creator was a man, and everyone who has beaten him is male, and that's why he is more willing to help a little girl. The little girl is innocent and hasn't done anything to the creature, so the creature uses that part of his heart filled with compassion to save her. Plus, the creature has nothing to lose from saaving her; he's already down as far as he can go.

      Delete
    2. The Creature means no harm. The Creature is the most pure and kind human being. He becomes "evil" when society rejects him. He saved the girl because that is who he is. He is a caring person. Even though he is rejected by society he still remains himself. Yes, he did burn down the cottage and kill William, but he could have done worse.

      Delete
    3. I think that he saved the girl because he still had some human emotions and not just a monster that he thought he was at this point. He would also be able to relate to the feeling of being helpless with no one around being able to help as he also "fell into the water" of the world filled with people that hated him. If Someone, mainly Victor, had been there to "save" the creature, the creature would not have been the monster that had declared war on the human race.

      Delete
    4. The creature saves the little girl because he still has feelings. I believe that the creature is more sensitive than any other person in the book. This is the same reason that he wants a woman creature. He has all these feelings and no one to really care for. He wants someone to be able to love.

  6. Do think the creature had any regrets about killing William for being associated with Victor or no regrets at all? and why?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think the creature has any regrets because he has cursed humans and despises their existance. The creature has become like Victor and Walton in the fact they become so overcome by something that drives them that their is no stopping them and they will do anything to achieve what they want. The creature can't feel sorry because his intentions were clear and committed this murder in pure hatred.

      Delete
    2. I believe that the create feels a huge guilt, whether he shows it or not. Regreting it though, I doubt it. I believe that he feels like he just stuck it to the man, or in his case, the creater. But he will still feel guilty about killing him, it might pop up into his thoughts before doing something like this again.

  7. Will Victor be able to accept the creature now?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think Victor will ever be able to fully accept the creature as a person, but he will have to come to the realization that the creature is alive and he isn't going away anytime soon. I think the only way for Victor to come to terms with what he has done is by helping the creature by making the creature a girlfriend.

      Delete
    2. I don't think that Victor will ever be able to accept the creature. If the creature hadn't murdered William he would've stood a chance of being accepted, but he did murder William. Since William meant a great deal to Victor, he won't ever be able to fully accept the creature. I'm sure that Victor feels a little bad for abandoning the creature after listening to what he had to go through, but I don't think it will change the fact that Victor still hates him for taking William from him. I don't think Victor will ever be able to accept him because of what he did.

      Delete
    3. Victor will never be able to forgive the Creature for what he's done, but I do believe that Victor will accept the Creature. The Creature has reasons for doing everything that he has done, and even though he has done some bad things, Victor is at fault. Victor will eventually accept the Creature because he will put all the blame on himself. That is why he is telling his story to Robert Walton. To try and rid himself of his mistakes.

      Delete
    4. Victor Won't ever fully accept the creature due to killing his little brother. Sense Victor heard his story and why he killed his brother he might finally take responsibility for his creation and try to teach the creature right from wrong and give him a companion. So Victor won't accept the creature as his "son", but he will take responsibility.

      Delete
    5. I think Victor wont be able to accept the creature even after hearing its part of the story. It would be a little bit shocking to him that the weird looking creature that he created was as intelligent. The creature after all, caused the death of 2 close family members. If the creature would not have killed William and indirectly killed Justine, and instead just would have found Victor in another way, I think he may have more easily accepted his wish for a companion.

      Delete
    6. No, the creature will never be able to accept Victor and Victor will never be able to accept the creature. They have both wronged the other in a way that will never be forgetable or forgivible. The creature killed WIlliam, and Victor abondened the creature. Two things that never would have happened if the creature was just born beautiful or never created. So it is also Victors fault for creating a man out of dead, disgusting bodies.

      Delete
    7. Victor deep down will never accept or forgive the creature for what he has done to his little brother William. After the creature is down talking Victor is shocked and didn't know what to say. The creature wanted him to create another one of him.(130;chp.17). This shows that the creatureknows that he has power over Victor and that scares him, because of this Victor wants to stay away from the creature and he will never accept him.

      Delete
  8. Who do you think is evil now, Victor or the Creature?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have yet to ever think of the creature as the bad guy. Now granted, the creature is pretty terrible for framing Justine and killing William, but at the same time you have to remember that not only did Victor create the creature, but he also left the creature to fend for himself. he had to learn everything on his own without ever learning anything from an acctual teaching; this means that he was never taught morals which means he cannot be responsible for anything immoral that he did. It's definitely all Victor's fault making him the bad guy.

      Delete
    2. I don't think etither one of them is evil. Both of them have done evil things, Victor abandoned the creature and the creature murdered William, but I don't think either one of them is completely evil. Victor only wanted to create the creature to make an advancement in science, he never thought that he would actually be able to accomplish it and then have to look after the creature. He abandoned the creature because he was scared of what he had created. The creature is a compassionate person and the only thing that he ever did wrong was murder William. I don't believe that either one of them, Vicotr or the creature, is completely evil.

      Delete
    3. Both Victor and the Creature have their faults, but neither one of them is evil. Victor and the Creature have made many mistakes in their lives, but they have perfectly good reason. Victor made this Creature thinking it would be a great thing, but it wasn't. Victor feared the Creature and that is why he abandoned him. It was a mistake abandoning the Creature, but that does not make Victor evil. The Creature has also made his fair share of mistakes. The Creature burned down the cottage and killed William out of hatred for Victor. This hatred is well deserved, but there are other ways of handling that hatred.

      Delete
    4. Victor and the creature are neither evil. Victor didn't create the creature out of pure evil. He just curious in the human body and life. The creature didn't want to hurt anyone on purpose. The creature was just angry, because no one wanted him and he was lonely. So neither of them are evil its just that they both have had mistakes.

      Delete
    5. They have both done their own evils. Victor by searching out the stuff needed for creating the creature and then abandoning it right after it was created, forcing it to learn everything on its own and then finding its own shelter and "family". The Creature by spying on the cottagers, and then killing william and then indirectly killing Justine. Both of them doing these evils really balances them out and therefore neither of them are really the evil one.

      Delete
    6. Not just one of them is evil. In some instances Victor is the bad one and in others the creature is evil. In chapter 4 Victor is bringing the creature to life and this is a position that God does. So Victor seems as a evil figure here, but he doesn't mean to make something awful and terrifing. Then the creature kills William and he doesn't pre meditate this so it wasn't and evil plan at first, but then he wants revenge and he kills this poor innocent boy. So the creature in a way is evil at this point.(127;chp.16). There isn't a distinct side that is more evil than the other.

      Delete
  9. What do you think, if anything, could have changed the outcome of the creature meeting the cottagers?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that if the other people that he met before would have accepted him, that he would never have met the cottagers. The creature meets the cottagers because he is curious and he wants some sort of companionship and he feels that they will give him that. If the creature would have just isolated himself from society he would never have felt the need to meet with them and all of this would have been avoided but instead after his first interaction he can't resist the temptaion.

      Delete
    2. I think if the creature would have explained his situation, how he came to be, and wouldnt have been sounding as deperate as he sounded when he was talking to De Lacey. If he would have done these they would have possibly been more accepting of him because they may have felt sorry for the way other people have treated him. If they wouldnt accept him even after he has told his story and they didnt accept him, they may not have reacted as badly as the way the did by beating him and kicking him out of their home.

      Delete
  10. What do you think Victor's reaction will be at the conclusion of the creature's story?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Victors reaction will be one of disgust. He will still hate the Creature immediately after the end of his story, because he won't be able to forgive the Creature for what he's done. However, with time, Victor will begin to accept the Creature and look at him differently than he did before.

      Delete
    2. Victor will be shocked in what the creature has accomplished sense he has been missing, but he will be angry at what he did to Victor's brother. Victor will be able to understand the creature and the pain that he went through, because of the creature's story.

      Delete
    3. I think it will be a mixed reaction of anger and sadness, and guilt. Victor will be angry at what the creature did to William and indirectly to Justine. Victor will be sad and how painful the creature existance up to this current point has been, from Victor abandoning him to seeing how much he wanted to be part of a family. There will be guilt because of the fact that all of the pain the creature went through since its creation could have been prevented if Victor would have just cared and watched over the creature after he created it.

      Delete
  11. The creature even states this, but why would Victor create a creature even he would be afraid of and disgusted by?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, at first Victor was just looking at how he could benefit society. In his mind, this basically trying to perfect the human body. That's how he looked at it; he never thought that he would ever look at it that way until he eneded up seeing what he had created at the end of it.

      Delete
    2. Victor was too blinded by the drive to create life that he never thought of all the possible outcomes. Victor thinks that what he creates is going to be absolutlely beautiful and that he will take pride in his creation. Victor doesn't think past part one or the down side to things, he just thinks that this created life will be perfect.

      Delete
    3. Victor didn't really know exactly what the creature would turn out to look like when he started. He just got caught up in an experiment and in the end he finally realizes what he has done. so Victor didn't mean for the creature to be scary he was just caught in the moment.

      Delete
  12. How do you believe Victor will react to hearing this story and react to the way his brother was murdered?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think Victor will still hate the creature after the creature is done telling his story. William meant a lot to Victor, and the fact that the creature murdered him will make Victor hate the creature forever. Victor doesn't care what the creature had to go through, he only cares that he killed William. After hearing the story I believe Victor will try killing the creature like he did before the creature began telling his story because the creature murdered William. Nothing will ever change the fact that William is gone because of what the creature did, and Victor will make him pay for it.
